On my way home last night, I heard a No on Prop 8 ad on one of the local radio stations and didn't think anything of it. Perhaps I was listening in at the wrong time or during times when they ran the No on Prop 8 ads. I hoped that the radio station gave equal opportunity to their listeners regarding Prop 8. I woke up this morning and heard the same ad again on the same radio station (FM102). I wasn't sure if the radio station was biased and/or was for No on Prop 8.
The ads focused on children and that Yes on Prop 8 was lying concerning what California children will be taught in schools regarding marriage. One of the Yes on Prop 8 arguments is:
1. I do not want public schools to teach elementary school children that gay marriage is okay. Nor do I want mandatory sex education taught under a gay marriage agenda. This is an issue for parents to discuss with their children according to their own values and beliefs.
According to FoxNews.com, "First-graders in San Francisco took a field trip to City Hall to celebrate the marriage of their lesbian teacher on Friday, but opponents of same-sex marriage in the state say the field trip was an attempt to “indoctrinate” the students, the San Francisco Chronicle reported."
And they say it can't happen to our children...I beg to differ. If it happened in San Francisco, why can't it happen in my town or city. And the ages their teaching the children is awfully young, in fact too young to comprehend it all.
It saddens me how complacent misinformed they are regarding issues surrounding Prop 8. It just opens more legal problems for parents who will not have the option to choose if their children can get out of a class like the one in San Francisco.
Just thinking out loud again about how much of an impact this proposition has on the future of Californians.
